Temperature
Temperatures were above normal in the majority of the region. The highest temperatures reached 8°F to 10°F above normal in a couple of small areas in northwestern and southwestern Wyoming, and the northwest corner of the Nebraska panhandle. The lowest temperatures were 6°F to 8°F below normal in eastern North Dakota.
Temperatures in a small area of central Kansas, and scattered parts of central Colorado reached 9°F to 12°F above normal. The hottest temperature was 97°F in Wichita, Kansas and Grand Junction, Colorado, which is 7°F above normal for both areas. The lowest temperatures were 3°F to 6°F below normal in northeastern Kansas, a small part of southeastern Nebraska, and northcentral and eastern North Dakota.
Temperatures in eastern North Dakota and central Wyoming reached 6°F to 8°F below normal, with an area in Wyoming reaching 8°F to 10°F below normal. The coldest temperature was 47°F in Alamosa, Colorado, which is 1°F above normal for the area. The highest temperatures were greater than 10°F above normal in the northwestern corner of the Nebraska panhandle, and a small area in northwestern Wyoming.
Precipitation
Precipitation amounts varied in the region, ranging from less than 2 percent of normal in scattered parts of southern and northcentral Kansas, scattered areas throughout Colorado, a few areas in western and the panhandle of Nebraska, northeastern Wyoming, western and northern South Dakota, and throughout most of North Dakota, to 400 to 800 percent of normal in central Nebraska, a tiny area in eastern Colorado, a small part of southwestern South Dakota, and a sliver of an area in northcentral Wyoming. North Loup, Nebraska received 5.42 inches of precipitation with most of it falling on the 18th.
Drought continues in the region. D0 (abnormally dry) conditions decreased from 91 to 90 percent. In the region, Kansas experienced the highest increase in D0 conditions by 4 percent while Nebraska experienced the highest decrease in D0 conditions by 4 percent.
