Temperature
Temperatures were below normal for the majority of the region, with the lowest temperatures being greater than 15°F below normal in southeastern Wyoming. The highest temperatures were 0°F to 3°F above normal in scattered areas of central and southwestern North Dakota, southwestern South Dakota, northwestern Nebraska, northeastern Wyoming, and southwestern Colorado.
Temperatures in western North Dakota reached 5°F to 10°F above normal. The hottest temperature was 77°F in Pueblo, Colorado, which is 3°F below normal for the area. The lowest temperatures were greater than 25°F below normal in southeastern Wyoming.
Temperatures in western North Dakota reached greater than 15°F below normal. The coldest temperature was 30°F in Alamosa, Colorado, which is 5°F below normal for the area. The highest temperatures were 0°F to 3°F above normal in central North Dakota, southcentral Kansas, and scattered parts of central Colorado.
Precipitation
Precipitation amounts varied in the region, ranging from less than 5 percent of normal in southern and the northern corners of Colorado, scattered parts of northcentral Kansas, western Nebraska, and western North Dakota, to more than 300 percent of normal in southwestern North Dakota, northeastern and southcentral Colorado, and eastern Kansas. Oswego, Kansas received 4.43 inches of precipitation with most of it falling on the 19th.
Drought continues in the region. D0 (abnormally dry) conditions increased from 80 percent to 81 percent. In the region, South Dakota experienced the highest increase in D0 conditions by 11 percent while Kansas and Nebraska experienced the highest decrease in D0 conditions by 3 percent.
Severe Storms
Nebraska received hail 1 inch in diameter, and multiple landspouts were spotted within the panhandle and nearby states. Kansas and South Dakota received hail 1 to 1.75 inches in diameter and 1 to 2 inches in diameter, respectively. Colorado received hail 1 to 4.5 inches in diameter.
