Temperature

Temperatures were below normal for the majority of the region. The lowest temperatures were greater than 10°F below normal in northcentral and eastern North Dakota. The highest temperatures were 4°F to 6°F above normal in northwestern Wyoming.

Temperatures in western Wyoming, scattered parts of eastern Nebraska, and parts of central Kansas reached 5°F to 10°F above normal. The hottest temperature was 77°F in Wichita, Kansas, which is 3°F above normal for the area. The lowest temperatures were in southeastern Wyoming, reaching 15°F to 20°F below normal.

Temperatures in northcentral South Dakota reached 12°F to 15°F below normal. The coldest temperature was 28°F in Grand Forks, North Dakota, which is 10°F below normal for the area. The highest temperatures were 3°F to 6°F above normal in northwestern Wyoming.

Precipitation

Precipitation amounts varied in the region, ranging from less than 5 percent of normal in most of North and South Dakota, northern and eastern Nebraska, eastern Kansas, northern Wyoming, and southwestern Colorado to more than 300 percent of normal in northcentral Colorado. Pierre, South Dakota received 6.28 inches of precipitation with all of it falling on the 9th.

Drought continues in the region. D0 (abnormally dry) conditions increased from 77 percent to 78 percent. In the region, North Dakota experienced the highest increase in D0 conditions by 8 percent while Colorado, South Dakota, and Wyoming experienced no change in D0 conditions.

Severe Storms

Colorado and Nebraska received hail 1 inch in diameter. Kansas and Wyoming received hail from 1 to 1.25 and 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter, respectively.
