Temperature
Temperatures were below normal for the region. The lowest temperatures were greater than 10°F below normal in eastern North Dakota, and a small spot in central Nebraska. The highest temperatures were 0°F to 2°F above normal in northwestern Wyoming.
Temperatures in southcentral Kansas, scattered parts of southwestern and eastern Wyoming, and southwestern South Dakota reached 0°F to 3°F above normal. The hottest temperature was 72°F in Wichita, Kansas, which is normal for the area. The lowest temperatures were greater than 15°F below normal in southeastern Wyoming.
Temperatures in central and eastern North Dakota, central South Dakota, and central Nebraska reached greater than 10°F below normal. The coldest temperature was 26°F in Alamosa, Colorado, which is 3°F below normal for the area. The highest temperatures were 2°F to 4°F above normal in southeastern Wyoming.
Precipitation
Precipitation amounts varied in the region, ranging from less than 2 percent of normal in southern Kansas, northeastern Colorado, scattered parts of the Nebraska panhandle, central and western Wyoming, northwestern South Dakota, and across North Dakota, to more than 300 percent in northeastern Kansas, central Colorado, southwestern Wyoming, and scattered parts of eastern South Dakota. Rossville, Kansas received 4.5 inches of precipitation with all of it falling on the 27th.
Drought continues in the region. D0 (abnormally dry) conditions remained the same as the previous week. In the region, North Dakota experienced the highest increase in D0 conditions by 3 percent while Kansas experienced the highest decrease in D0 conditions by 2 percent.
