Temperature

Temperatures varied in the region. The highest temperatures were 8°F to 10°F above normal in eastern North Dakota, and eastern and southern South Dakota. The lowest temperatures were 2°F to 4°F across central Colorado, a small area in western Kansas, and central South Dakota.

Temperatures in southeastern South Dakota reached 8°F to 10°F above normal. The hottest temperature was 83°F at Wichita, Kansas, which is 1°F above normal for the area. The lowest temperatures were 6°F to 10°F below normal in central and southcentral South Dakota.

Temperatures in southern Wyoming, eastern Kansas, and eastern Colorado reached 3°F to 6°F below normal. The coldest temperature was 34°F at Alamosa, Colorado, which is 2°F below normal for the area. The highest temperatures were 12°F to 15°F above normal in northwestern Nebraska, eastern South Dakota, and northern and eastern North Dakota.

Precipitation

Precipitation amounts varied in the region, ranging from 2 percent of normal in western and southern Colorado, northcentral Wyoming, northwestern Kansas, northwestern South Dakota, and western North Dakota to more than 800 percent of normal in central South Dakota, southern Nebraska, and central Wyoming. McCook, Nebraska received 6.42 inches of precipitation; most of it fell on the 17th.

Drought continues in the region. D0 (abnormally dry) conditions remained the same as last week at 42 percent. In the region, Colorado and North Dakota experienced the highest decrease in D0 conditions by 2 percent, and Kansas experienced the highest increase in D0 conditions by 3 percent.
