Temperature

Temperatures varied in the region; the central portion of the region experienced below normal temperatures. The highest temperatures were 6°F to 10°F above normal in northwestern Wyoming. The lowest temperatures were 8°F to 10°F below normal in eastern Kansas.

Temperatures in northwestern Wyoming reached 6°F to 8°F above normal. The hottest temperature was 85°F at Medicine Lodge, Kansas, which is 2°F below normal for the area. The lowest temperatures were greater than 10°F below normal in eastern Kansas, southwestern Colorado, and scattered parts of western and the panhandle of Nebraska.

Temperatures in central Nebraska, central South Dakota, and southcentral North Dakota reached 8°F to 10°F below normal. The coldest temperature was 40°F at Craig, Colorado, which is normal for the area. The highest temperatures were 8°F to 10°F above normal in northwestern Wyoming.

Precipitation

Precipitation amounts varied this week, ranging from 2 percent of normal in western and northcentral Wyoming, northwestern Colorado, scattered parts of South Dakota, and scattered parts across central and western North Dakota to 800 percent of normal southwestern Colorado. Sedan, Kansas received 7.59 inches of precipitation; most of it fell on the 4th.

Drought continues in the region. D0 (abnormally dry) conditions improved from 75 percent to 69 percent. In the region, each state experienced a decrease in D0 conditions with North Dakota experiencing the greatest decrease in conditions by 21 percent.

Severe Storms

Wyoming received hail 1 inch in diameter. Colorado and Kansas received hail of 1 to 2 inches and 1 to 3 inches in diameter, respectively.
