Temperature

Temperatures were above normal for most of the northern portions of the region and below normal for the southern portion of the region. The highest temperatures were across South Dakota, across North Dakota, and in northwestern Wyoming reaching 12°F to 15°F above normal with an area in northwestern Wyoming reaching temperatures greater than 15°F above normal. The lowest temperatures were in southeastern Colorado and southwestern Kansas, reaching 3°F to 6°F below normal.

Temperatures across North Dakota, South Dakota, northern Nebraska, and northwestern Wyoming reached 15°F to 20°F above normal with a spot in northwestern Wyoming reaching 20°F to 25°F above normal. The highest temperature was 86°F at Huron, South Dakota which is 19°F above normal for the area. The coolest temperatures were in southeastern Colorado and southwestern Kansas reaching 5°F to 10°F below normal with a spot in southeastern Colorado reaching 10°F to 15°F below normal.

Temperatures in northwestern Wyoming, southcentral Colorado, and central Kansas reached 3°F to 6°F below normal with a spot in northwestern Wyoming reaching 6°F to 9°F below normal. The lowest temperature was 32°F at Alamosa, Colorado which is normal for the area. The warmest temperatures were in western South Dakota, northwestern and northeastern Wyoming reaching 12°F to 15°F above normal with a spot in northwestern Wyoming reaching temperatures greater than 15°F above normal.

Precipitation

Precipitation across the region varied, ranging from 2 percent of normal in eastern and northern Nebraska, central and eastern South Dakota, northwestern and eastern North Dakota, scattered areas in Wyoming, and northcentral Colorado to 400 percent of normal in southeastern Colorado and southwestern Kansas. Belulah, Colorado received 2.91 inches of precipitation; most of it fell on the 6th.

Drought continues in the region. D0 (abnormally dry) conditions further degraded from 79 percent to 83 percent. In the region, Colorado experienced the highest increase in D0 conditions by 13 percent while Wyoming experienced the highest decrease in D0 conditions by 0.5 percent.
