Temperature

Temperatures were above normal for a majority of the region. The highest temperatures were in scattered parts of central Kansas, eastern Nebraska, and southeastern South Dakota reaching 12°F to 15°F above normal. The lowest temperatures were in southwestern Colorado reaching 3°F to 6°F below normal.

Temperatures in eastern South Dakota, eastern Nebraska, and central Kansas reached temperatures 9°F to 12°F above normal with some spots in those states reaching 12°F to 15°F above normal. The hottest temperature was 76°F at Medicine Lodge, Kansas which is 17°F above normal for the area. The coldest temperatures were in southwestern and central Colorado, western Wyoming and northcentral North Dakota reaching temperatures of 0°F to 5°F below normal.

Temperatures in eastern North Dakota, scattered parts of western Kansas and Colorado reached 0°F to 5°F below normal. The coldest temperature was 13°F at Leadville, Colorado which is 1°F above normal for the area. The warmest temperatures were in central and eastern South Dakota, eastern Nebraska, and central Kansas reaching 15°F to 20°F above normal with some areas in South Dakota reaching temperatures greater than 25°F above normal.

Precipitation

Precipitation varied in the region, ranging from 2 percent of normal in southern North Dakota, northeastern and western South Dakota, eastern Wyoming, the panhandle and southeastern Nebraska, a majority of Kansas, and southeastern Colorado to 400 percent of normal in northern North Dakota, southeastern South Dakota, northcentral Nebraska, and scattered parts of Wyoming and Colorado. Old Faithful in Wyoming received 1.02 inches of precipitation; most of it fell on the 17th.

Drought continues in the region. D0 (abnormally dry) conditions increased from 80 percent to 81 percent. In the region, Kansas experienced the highest increase in D0 conditions by 9 percent while Wyoming experienced the highest decrease in D0 conditions by 4 percent.
