Temperature

Temperatures varied in the region. The highest temperatures were in northwestern Colorado, northeastern South Dakota, and scattered parts of North Dakota reaching temperatures 3°F to 6°F above normal. Temperatures in central Kansas and southeastern Nebraska reached 16°F below normal.

The highest temperatures were in northwestern Colorado, eastern North Dakota, and eastern South Dakota reaching temperatures 3°F to 6°F above normal. The warmest temperature was 41°F in Grand Junction, Colorado which is 4°F below normal for the area. Temperatures in central Kansas and southeastern Colorado reached 16°F below normal.

The coldest temperatures were in northcentral Kansas and southcentral Nebraska reaching 15°F to 20°F below normal. The coldest temperature was -5°F in Leadville, Colorado which is 9°F below normal for the area. Temperatures in northern North Dakota and northwestern Colorado reached 5°F to 10°F above normal.

Precipitation

Precipitation amounts varied in the region, ranging from 2 percent in western Colorado, scattered parts of Wyoming, western Kansas, central and eastern Nebraska, and scattered parts of North and South Dakota to 800 percent in eastern Colorado, southwestern and northeastern Kansas. Columbus, Kansas received 5 inches of precipitation, well above their normal average of 0.06 inches.

Drought continues in the region. D0 (abnormally dry) conditions increased from 74 percent to 75 percent. In the region, Colorado experienced the highest amount of further degradation of conditions by 4 percent.
