Temperature

Temperatures varied in the region. The highest temperatures were in northwestern and southcentral Colorado, western Wyoming, and central Kansas, reaching temperatures 9°F to 12°F above normal. The lowest temperatures were in western South Dakota and northern North Dakota reaching temperatures of 9°F to 15°F. 

The highest temperatures were in southern and western Colorado, western Wyoming, and central Kansas reaching temperatures 9°F to 15°F above normal. The warmest temperature was 48°F in Cortez, Colorado, which is 7°F above normal for the area. Temperatures in northern Nebraska, western South Dakota, northeastern Wyoming, western and northcentral North Dakota reached 9°F to 16°F below normal.  

Temperatures were above normal for most of the region. The highest temperatures were in southeastern Nebraska, central Kansas, central and northwestern Colorado, and scattered parts of Wyoming reaching 9°F to 12°F above normal, with some areas in Colorado and Wyoming reaching 12°F to 15°F above normal. Temperatures in northern North Dakota reached 6°F to 12°F below normal. The coldest temperature was -7°F in Minot, North Dakota which is 12°F below normal for the area. 

Precipitation

Precipitation amounts varied in the region, ranging from 2 percent in southwestern Colorado, western Kansas, and most of North Dakota to 800 percent of normal in central Wyoming, central and western South Dakota, and northcentral Nebraska. Independence, Kansas received 3.7 inches of precipitation, well above their normal average of 0.06 inches; most of this fell on the 5^th.

Drought continues in the region. D0 (abnormally dry) conditions remained the same as last week at 74 percent. In the region, Colorado experienced the highest amount of further degradation of conditions by 2 percent.
