Temperature
This week featured above normal temperatures for a majority of the region. The warmest regions were northern Wyoming, western and northern Colorado, and western South Dakota reaching 8°F to 10°F above normal. The coldest region was eastern Kansas and a small spot in eastern North Dakota reaching 4°F to 6°F below normal.
The warmest regions were northern Wyoming, western North Dakota, and western and central South Dakota reaching 9°F to 12°F above normal with some areas in Wyoming and South Dakota reaching 12°F to 15°F above normal. The warmest temperature was 75°F in Pueblo, Colorado which is 6°F above normal for the area. The coldest regions were southern Colorado, a small spot in eastern North Dakota, and southern and eastern Kansas reaching 0°F to 3°F below normal with some spots reaching 3°F to 6°F below normal.
The coldest region was eastern Kansas reaching temperatures 6°F to 9°F below normal with some spots reaching 9°F to 12°F below normal. The coldest temperature was 26°F in Moran, Wyoming which is 2°F above normal for the area. The warmest region was western Colorado, reaching temperatures 9°F to 12°F above normal with some spots reaching 12°F to 15°F above normal.
Precipitation
Precipitation amounts varied in the region from 800 percent of normal in southern Colorado to 2 percent of normal in most of Kansas, eastern Nebraska, southwestern South Dakota, and western North Dakota. Pavillion, Wyoming received 2 inches of precipitation, which is well above the 0.02 inch normal; all of this fell on the 18th.
Drought continues in the region. D0 (abnormally dry) conditions increased from 86 percent to 88 percent. In the region, Nebraska experienced the highest increase in D0 conditions by 4 percent.
