Temperature
Temperatures were above normal for the majority of the region. The highest temperatures were greater than 10°F above normal in scattered parts of northeastern and southcentral Nebraska, northcentral Kansas, a small part of central Colorado, and a small area of southwestern South Dakota. The lowest temperatures were 4°F to 6°F below normal in southeastern Wyoming.
Temperatures in northcentral Kansas, scattered parts of southern Nebraska, and a small part of northeastern Colorado reached temperatures greater than 15°F above normal. The hottest temperature was 79°F in Pueblo, Colorado, which is 10°F above normal for the area. The lowest temperatures were greater than 15°F below normal in southeastern Wyoming.
Temperatures in eastern Colorado and eastern North Dakota reached 8°F to 10°F below normal. The coldest temperature was 29°F in Williston, North Dakota, which is 2°F below normal for the area, and in Alamosa, Colorado, which is 2°F above normal for the area. The highest temperatures were greater than 10°F above normal in central Colorado, northcentral Kansas, and southwestern South Dakota.
Precipitation
Precipitation amounts varied in the region, ranging from less than 5 percent of normal in central and western Kansas, central and eastern Colorado, scattered parts of central and western Nebraska, southern Wyoming, northern South Dakota, and most of North Dakota, to more than 300 percent of normal in central South Dakota. The Lake Sharpe Project in South Dakota received 3.29 inches of precipitation with most of it falling on the 21st.
Drought continues in the region. D0 (abnormally dry) conditions remained the same as the previous week. In the region, Kansas experienced the highest decrease in D0 conditions by 3 percent.
Severe Storms
After being hit by storms last week, Kansas received more hail this week with diameters between 1 to 4 inches and several landspouts spotted across the south-central portion of the state. Southeast Nebraska received hail 1 to 2 inches in diameter.
