Temperature

Temperatures were above normal in the majority of the region, with the highest temperatures being 9°F to 12°F above normal in western and southern Wyoming, western and central Colorado, and scattered parts of western and central Kansas. The lowest temperatures were 9°F to 12°F below normal in eastern North Dakota.

Temperatures in northwestern Wyoming reached values greater than 15°F above normal. The hottest temperature was 79°F in Dodge City, Kansas, which is 12°F above normal for the area. The lowest temperatures were 12°F to 15°F below normal in small parts of central and eastern North Dakota, and a small area in southeastern Wyoming.

Temperatures in eastern North Dakota reached 9°F to 12°F below normal. The coldest temperature was 26°F in Fargo, North Dakota, which is 4°F below normal for the area. The highest temperatures were 9°F to 12°F above normal in southeastern Wyoming, scattered parts of central and western Colorado, and scattered parts of central and southwestern Kansas.

Precipitation

Precipitation amounts varied in the region, ranging from less than 2 percent of normal in scattered parts of central North Dakota, across most of western and central South Dakota, central and western Nebraska, across most of Wyoming, scattered parts of western, central, and eastern Colorado, and parts of central and western Kansas, to more than 800 percent of normal in northeastern Kansas. Blue Rapids, Kansas received 10.56 inches of precipitation with almost all of it falling on the 10th and 11th.

Drought continues in the region. D0 (abnormally dry) conditions increased from 79 percent to 80 percent. In the region, Kansas experienced the highest increase in D0 conditions by 4 percent while North Dakota experienced the highest decrease in D0 conditions by 2 percent.
