Temperature

Temperatures were above normal in the majority of the region. The highest temperatures were 12°F to 15°F above normal in northwestern Wyoming. The lowest temperatures were 3°F to 6°F below normal in southeastern Nebraska and a small area in southeastern Colorado.

Temperatures in northwestern and northcentral South Dakota, northwestern Wyoming, and southcentral and southwestern North Dakota reached 12°F to 15°F above normal. The hottest temperature was 100°F in Grand Junction, Colorado, which is 5°F above normal for the area, and in Rapid City, South Dakota, which is 13°F above normal for the area. The lowest temperatures reached 3°F to 6°F below normal in central Kansas.

Temperatures in a tiny area in northeastern Kansas and southeastern Nebraska reached 9°F to 12°F below normal, with some areas in Nebraska reaching 12°F to 15°F below normal. The coldest temperature was 49°F in Alamosa, Colorado, which is 1°F above normal for the area. The highest temperatures reached 12°F to 15°F above normal in northeastern and northwestern Wyoming.

Precipitation

Precipitation amounts varied in the region, ranging from less than 2 percent of normal in most of Kansas, South Dakota, and North Dakota, almost all of Nebraska, central and eastern Wyoming, and northwestern and eastern Colorado, to more than 800 percent of normal in a small area in northcentral Wyoming. The Parsons Tri-City Airport in Kansas received 2.76 inches of precipitation with most of it falling on the 15th.

Drought continues in the region. D0 (abnormally dry) conditions increased from 77 to 78 percent. In the region, South Dakota experienced the highest decrease in D0 conditions by 4 percent while North Dakota experienced the highest increase in D0 conditions by 11 percent.
