Temperature

Temperatures were above normal in the majority of the region. The highest temperatures were 8°F to 10°F above normal in northeastern Wyoming, and part of western South Dakota. The lowest temperatures were 6°F to 8°F below normal in southeastern Nebraska with some areas reaching 8°F to 10°F below normal. 

Temperatures in northeastern South Dakota, parts of western Wyoming, and an area in western Colorado reached greater than 10°F above normal. The hottest temperature was 100°F in Grand Junction, Colorado, which is 5°F above normal for the area. The lowest temperatures were 4°F to 6°F below normal in southeastern Nebraska. 

Temperatures in southeastern Nebraska and northeastern Kansas reached greater than 10°F below normal. The coldest temperature was 46°F in Alamosa, Colorado, which is 1°F below normal for the area. The highest temperatures were 8°F to 10°F above normal in western Colorado.

Precipitation

Precipitation amounts varied in the region, ranging from less than 5 percent of normal in southeastern Kansas, central and western Colorado, scattered parts of central and western Wyoming, northeastern and parts of western Nebraska, across central South Dakota, and parts of central North Dakota, to more than 300 percent of normal in southeastern North Dakota, southwestern and northeastern South Dakota, small areas in northcentral Wyoming, a tiny area in southeastern Nebraska, and small scattered areas in northeastern Kansas. Webster, South Dakota received 5.17 inches of precipitation with most of it falling on the 8th.

Drought continues in the region. D0 (abnormally dry) conditions remained the same as the previous week. In the region, Kansas experienced the highest decrease in D0 conditions by 2 percent while Nebraska experienced the highest increase in D0 conditions by 2 percent.

Severe Storms

Colorado and Wyoming received hail 1 inch and 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter, respectively. Kansas and South Dakota received hail from 1 to 1.75 inches in diameter. Nebraska and North Dakota received hail 1 to 2 inches and 1 to 2.5 inches in diameter, respectively.
