Temperature

Temperatures were below normal in the eastern portion of the region and slightly above normal in the western portion. The highest temperatures were 6°F to 9°F above normal in southwestern Wyoming. The lowest temperatures were greater than 15°F below normal in a small area in southeastern Nebraska.

Temperatures in southwestern Wyoming reached 6°F to 9°F above normal. The lowest temperatures reached greater than 15°F below normal in southeastern Nebraska.

Temperatures in southeastern Nebraska reached 12°F to 15°F below normal. The highest temperatures reached 6°F to 9°F above normal in scattered parts of central and western Wyoming and a small part in the middle of the Nebraska panhandle.

Precipitation

Precipitation amounts varied in the region, ranging from less than 2 percent of normal in parts of central Colorado, eastern Nebraska, northeastern South Dakota, and southeastern North Dakota to greater than 800 percent of normal in northeastern Colorado. Columbus, Kansas received 9.11 inches of precipitation with most of it falling on the 27th.

Drought continues in the region. D0 (abnormally dry) conditions decreased from 84 percent to 82 percent. In the region, Kansas experienced the highest decrease in D0 conditions by 8 percent while South Dakota experienced the highest increase in D0 conditions by 1 percent.

Severe Storms

Colorado received hail 1-4 inches in diameter, causing damage to cars and homes, along with a tornado being spotted near Fowler. North Dakota and South Dakota received hail 1 to 2 inches in diameter. Kansas and Nebraska received hail 1 to 1.75 inches and 1 to 2.75 inches in diameter, respectively. Wyoming received hail 1-2 inches in diameter, and an EF-2 tornado touched down in Campbell County
