You are invited to complete a survey that investigates weather and climate information needs. The following information is provided in order to help you make an informed decision whether or not to participate. You have been chosen to participate in this study because of your current or previous experience using climate data, products, and information.
The goal of this project is to understand weather and climate information needs for decision-making in a variety of sectors. The primary research area includes the Missouri River Basin states (Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming); however participants from all states are welcome to take the survey. Your information will ultimately help guide researchers in the development of decision-support tools that utilize weather and climate information.
Your participation will require approximately 30 minutes of your time. There are no known risks or discomforts associated with this research and you will not receive any benefits or incentives by participating in this survey. The information obtained during this study may be published in scientific journals, presented at scientific meetings, or displayed on climate information websites. The identities of survey participants will be kept anonymous. Data and information obtained during the project will be transferred to a secure location in the School of Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. This information will only be stored for a period of 1.5 years after the study is complete.
If you have questions concerning this research, you may ask the project personnel and have those questions answered before agreeing to participate in this survey. Participation in this survey is completely voluntary and you may opt out at any time during the session without adversely affecting your relationship with the researchers or the University of Nebraska. If you have any questions or concerns about the program and wish to talk to someone other than the project personnel, you may contact the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Institutional Review Board at (402)472-6965 or irb@unl.edu.
