After a warm, dry March you may be wondering how this March compared to March of 2012. 2012 remains the warmest March on record for most states, but overall March of 2015 was drier. This year, many locations had their top 10 warmest and/or driest March on record, but none were warm enough to break any of the records set in 2012. Here is a table which compares the two years on a state-wide basis:
| State | Temperature Rankings (2012/2015) | Precipitation Rankings (2012/2015) |
| Colorado | 2nd warmest /6th warmest | 2nd driest / 20th driest |
| Kansas | Warmest / 19th warmest | 23rd wettest / 10th driest |
| Nebraska | Warmest / 8th warmest | 22nd driest / 2nd driest |
| North Dakota | Warmest / 12th warmest | 40th driest / 36th driest |
| South Dakota | Warmest / 7th warmest | 10th driest / 2nd driest |
| Wyoming | 2nd warmest / 5th warmest | 2nd driest / 5th driest |
