Update on Drought Conditions in the High Plains Region - January 22, 2015

It was a dry and abnormally warm week across the High Plains region. Temperatures were as much as 15°F above normal across much of the Dakotas. The primary change in the U.S. Drought Monitor for our region this week was an expansion of abnormally dry conditions (D0) to include parts of southeastern Nebraska and most of eastern Kansas. Precipitation has been below normal across this region during the past 30 days. For the most part, it was status quo elsewhere in the region.

The warm and dry conditions are expected to continue into the next week for the region. Very little precipitation is expected, providing little drought relief.
