Conditions across the High Plains Region continued to degrade this week, however most of the region saw little to no changes.  North Dakota's zone of abnormally dry conditions along the southern border continues this week as well as the introduction of a small area of D1 conditions in the southwestern corner of the state.  Areas of moderate (D1) drought, abnormal dryness (D0), and severe drought (D2) expanded across western South Dakota, while eastern South Dakota saw the removal of D1 conditions and the removal of some areas of D0 condtions.  Western Kansas remained unchanged this week with D0, D1, and D2 conditions still persisting.  D2 conditions expanded across eastern Wyoming, while conditions in the southern portion of the state remained constant.  Central and western Nebraska saw a small increase in D1 conditions and D2 conditions in eastern Colorado expanded slightly this week as well.

Over 41% of the High Plains Region is currently free of drought or abnormal dryness.

Over the next week, below normal temperatures are expected across the region as well as across most of the continental US excluding the Southwest and Florida.  Meanwhile, above normal precipitation is expected for the High Plains Region as well as most of the continental US excluding the Southern Plains.
