According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, the High Plains Region remained mostly dry this past week, with the exception of about a half inch of precipitation across the northern plains where currently no drought conditions exist.
In the Region as a whole, no changes were made to the moderate drought (D1) this week. The area of D1 or worse in the Region totals 19.31% this week. Abnormally dry (D0) crept up this week to 55.31% of the Region. All other categories remain the same this week.
In Kansas, D0 was expanded across the central portion of the state to reflect the dryness and the 90 day deficits in precipitation. All other states in the Region had conditions remain the same this week.
