Lack of precipitation brought further degradation to areas of the High Plains Region this week.  In western South Dakota, southwestern North Dakota, and northern Wyoming, moderate (D1), severe (D2), and extreme (D3) drought conditions expanded further.  Abnormally dry (D0) conditions expanded into the Nebraska Panhandle as well as north-central and southwestern Colorado.  D0 and D1 conditions continue to persist in central Nebraska, the Big Horn Range of northern Wyoming, and the eastern border of the Dakotas.

Over 68% of the High Plains region is currently free of drought or abnormal dryness.

Over the next week, normal temperatures are expected for the High Plains Region, while the rest of the US is expecting above normal temperatures.  Meanwhile, above normal precipitiaion is expected for much of the eastern portion of the region as well as much of the eastern US, while areas like the western US and the southeast are expecting below normal precipitaiton.
