What is Weather Camp?
Weather Camp is a week-long day camp for students who will enter grades six through eight in the fall of 2011. The camp will take place Monday June 13, 2011 - Friday June 17, 2011 and will run from 9am - 5pm each day. Campers will get to see a weather balloon launch, use instruments to make their own weather observations, meet forecasters at the National Weather Service, and learn about the local weather of Nebraska from tornadoes to blizzards.
Where is Weather Camp?
Most events at Weather Camp 2011 will take place at Hardin Hall, which is located on East Campus at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Hardin Hall is located at the intersection of 33rd and Holdrege Street. A few field trips are planned and will require travel to local places. Permission to travel will be required and transportation will be provided.
How do I apply?
Applications to Weather Camp will be distributed through your local school. The fee for weather camp is $200. Selection will be based on student interest and teacher recommendations. Scholarships are available. If your school does not have applications, you can download a copy here.
