June was a wet month for many locations across the High Plains Region and July started off wet also!  Within the first week of the month some places had already made it into the top 10 wettest Julys on record.  Yesterday, high winds and heavy rains impacted southern South Dakota. Street flooding was reported in Sioux Falls, Mitchell, and Vermillion.  In addition, Marion, SD received 5.06 inches of rain which ranks as the 2nd highest one-day July precipitation total on record and the 3rd highest all time one-day precipitation total on record (period of record 1901-2010).

Below is a list of the locations that have made it into the top 10 list for July.  The High Plains Regional Climate Center will continue to monitor the precipitation totals and update this list through the end of the month.  For questions or comments, please contact us.
