Wet Start to July!

June was a wet month for many locations across the High Plains Region and July has started off wet also! Within the first week of the month some places have already made it into the top 10 wettest Julys on record. Heavy rain in the panhandle of Nebraska led to flooding and even evacuations in the town of Lodgepole.
Dodge City, KS has already received enough precipitation to be ranked as the 4th wettest July on record. Of the 7.02 inches that has fallen this month, 6.95 inches fell in less than 24 hours on July 4-5. This sets a new record for greatest 24-hour precipitation ever recorded in Dodge City.
Below is a list of the locations that have already made it into the top 10 list for July. With 3 more weeks left in the month, these locations could certainly move up in the rankings and more could join the list. The High Plains Regional Climate Center will continue to monitor the precipitation totals and update this list on a weekly basis. For questions or comments, please contact us.
