On Saturday, March 27th, weather enthusiasts, storm spotters, photographers, and families came to Hardin Hall at University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the 10th annual Central Plains Severe Weather Symposium.  The symposium is one of the largest events on campus, aside from sporting events, with over 3,000 people attending each year.  Events at the symposium included:

In addition, the High Plains Regional Climate Center (HPRCC) had an exhibit at the symposium called "Observing the Weather" which featured a fully functioning portable weather station identical to those in the Automated Weather Data Network (AWDN).  Attendees got to learn about the AWDN and experiment with the weather instruments to see how a real weather station works.  Participants also got a first peek at real-time weather observations from the new weather station just north of Hardin Hall.  Pictured to the right, HPRCC intern Braedi Brackey explains the function of the various weather instruments that were on display.
