November 25 – December 1, 2024 Summary

Temperature 

Temperatures were below normal for the majority of the region. The coldest temperatures were 15°F to 25°F below normal in northwestern North Dakota. Temperatures in central and northwestern Wyoming, southern and eastern Colorado, western Kansas, and southwestern Nebraska reached 0°F to 5°F above normal. 

The warmest temperatures were 0°F to 5°F above normal in central Wyoming, southern and eastern Colorado, western Kansas, and southwestern Nebraska. The warmest temperature was 52°F in Medicine Lodge, Kansas which is 1°F below normal for the area. Temperatures in northern South Dakota and most of North Dakota reached 15°F to 20°F with northern North Dakota reaching 20°F to 25°F below normal. 

The coldest temperatures were 15°F to 25°F below normal in northern North Dakota. The coldest temperature was -3°F in Williston, North Dakota which is 16°F below normal for the area. Temperatures in central and northwestern Wyoming, southern and eastern Colorado, and western Kansas reached 0°F to 5°F above normal with a spot in southern Colorado reaching 5°F to 10°F above normal. 

Precipitation  

Precipitation amounts varied in the region from 800 percent in central Colorado to 2 percent in southern Kansas, central Wyoming, most of Nebraska, and scattered parts of North and South Dakota. Crested Butte, Colorado received 2.6 inches of precipitation, which is well above the 0.07 inch normal; most of this fell on the 27th. Over Thanksgiving, Colorado received snow ranging from half a foot to over two feet in some areas. Drought continues in the region. D0 (abnormally dry) conditions were the same as last week in the region at 79%. No state experienced further degradation or improvement of conditions.
