April 8-14, 2025 Summary

Temperature 

Temperatures were above normal for the majority of the region. The highest temperatures were 12°F to 15°F in southcentral North Dakota, northcentral South Dakota and northwestern Wyoming with a spot in northwestern Wyoming reaching above normal temperatures greater than 15°F. The lowest temperatures were in eastern North Dakota reaching 0°F to 3°F below normal.  

The highest temperatures were in western South Dakota, western Wyoming, and central Colorado reaching above normal temperatures greater than 15°F. The hottest temperature was 82°F at Medicine Lodge, Kansas which is 13°F above normal for the area. Temperatures in eastern North Dakota reached 0°F to 3°F below normal.  

The lowest temperatures were in eastern North Dakota, western Wyoming, and southcentral Nebraska reaching 3°F to 6°F below normal. The coldest temperature was 15°F at Moran, Wyoming which is 5°F below normal for the area. Temperatures in northwestern Wyoming reached temperatures 12°F to 15°F above normal. 

Precipitation 

Precipitation amounts varied in the region, ranging from 2 percent of normal in the majority of Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming and central and eastern South Dakota to 400 percent of normal in northwestern North Dakota. Ambrose, North Dakota received 1.15 inches of precipitation; most of it fell on the 13th. Drought continues in the region. D0 (abnormally dry) conditions decreased from 82 percent to 80 percent. In the region, North Dakota experienced the highest increase in D0 conditions by 2 percent while Kansas experienced the highest decrease in D0 conditions by 8 percent.
