Temperature
This week featured above normal temperatures for a majority of the region. The warmest regions were eastern Wyoming, and scattered spots in Nebraska and Kansas reaching temperatures 6°F to 9°F above normal. Temperatures in eastern North Dakota and scattered spots in Colorado reaching 3°F to 6°F below normal with a spot in Colorado reaching 6°F to 9°F below normal.
The warmest regions were central and eastern Wyoming, the Nebraskan panhandle, and northern Colorado reaching temperatures 6°F to 9°F above normal with some spots reaching 9°F to 12°F above normal. The warmest temperature was 62°F in Medicine Lodge, Kansas which is 6°F above normal for the area, and Chanute, Kansas which is 6°F above normal for the area. Temperatures in northern North Dakota and scattered spots in southern and eastern Colorado reached 9°F to 12°F below normal.
The warmest regions were northeastern North Dakota, northwestern Wyoming, and scattered spots in Nebraska and Kansas reaching 6°F to 9°F above normal. Temperatures in western Colorado reached 6°F to 9°F below normal. The coldest temperature was 6°F in Fraser, Colorado which is 1°F below normal for the area.
Precipitation
Precipitation amounts varied in the region from 800 percent in southeastern North Dakota, eastern South Dakota, and southwestern Kansas to 2 percent in western and central South Dakota, the panhandle of Nebraska, southeastern Wyoming, and most of Colorado. Pittsburg, Kansas received 5.76 inches of precipitation, which is well above the 0.10 inch normal; most of this fell on the 19th. Drought continues in the region. D0 (abnormally dry) conditions decreased from 80% to 79%. In the region, Kansas experienced the highest decrease in D0 conditions by 4 percent while Nebraska experienced the highest increase in D0 conditions by 21 percent.
