Temperature
This week featured above normal temperatures for a majority of the region. The warmest regions were northern Wyoming, western and northern Colorado, and western South Dakota reaching 8°F to 10°F above normal. The coldest region was eastern Kansas and a small spot in eastern North Dakota reaching 4°F to 6°F below normal.
The warmest regions were northern Wyoming, western North Dakota, and western and central South Dakota reaching 9°F to 12°F above normal with some areas in Wyoming and South Dakota reaching 12°F to 15°F above normal. The warmest temperature was 75°F in Pueblo, Colorado which is 6°F above normal for the area. The coldest regions were southern Colorado, a small spot in eastern North Dakota, and southern and eastern Kansas reaching 0°F to 3°F below normal with some spots reaching 3°F to 6°F below normal.
The coldest region was eastern Kansas reaching temperatures 6°F to 9°F below normal with some spots reaching 9°F to 12°F below normal. The coldest temperature was 26°F in Moran, Wyoming which is 2°F above normal for the area. The warmest region was western Colorado reaching temperatures 9°F to 12°F above normal with some spots reaching 12°F to 15°F above normal.
Precipitation
Precipitation amounts varied in the region from 800% of normal in southern Colorado to 2% of normal in most of Kansas, eastern Nebraska, southwestern South Dakota, and western North Dakota. Pavillion, Wyoming received 2 inches of precipitation, which is well above the 0.02 inch normal; all of this fell on the 18th. Drought continues in the region. D0 (abnormally dry) conditions increased from 86% to 88%. In the region, Nebraska experienced the highest increase in D0 conditions by 4%.
