October 7-13, 2024 Summary

Temperature 

This week featured above normal temperatures for the entire region. The warmest regions were the southwestern corner of North Dakota, scattered spots in Wyoming, and western Colorado reaching temperatures 12°F to 16°F above normal. Temperatures in southern Nebraska, eastern North Dakota, and spots in eastern Kansas reached temperatures of 0°F to 4°F above normal. 

The warmest regions were southwestern North Dakota, northwestern South Dakota, and scattered spots in Wyoming reaching temperatures 16°F to 20°F above normal. The warmest temperature was 86°F at Lamar Municipal Airport in Colorado which is 13°F above normal for the area. Temperatures in central Colorado, southcentral Kansas, and eastern North Dakota reached temperatures 4°F to 8°F above normal. 

The coldest temperatures were southcentral Nebraska and a small spot in western North Dakota reaching 3°F to 6°F below normal. The coldest temperature was 24°F in Fraser, Colorado which is 1°F above normal for the area. Temperatures in northcentral Wyoming and western Colorado reached 12°F to 15°F above normal. Across the region, many places experienced the first freeze this past weekend. 

Precipitation 

The region received 25% of normal precipitation. Drought continues in the region. D0 (abnormally dry) conditions increased from 79% to 86%. In the region, Colorado experienced the highest increase in D0 conditions by 17%.
